Gary Oldman Says the Next Batman is Shooting Next Year?!
So don't take this and run with it, but Gary Oldman, who plays Commissioner Gordon, just told fans in Hall H at Comic-Con that the next Batman movie will begin shooting next year. This is the first we've ever heard of this and I think he's jumping the gun a bit and being too hopeful. He didn't say anything else besides that it would be shooting next year (and he wasn't being skeptical - this was a for sure statement). Though he did say, "you didn't hear it from me." As we know, Christopher Nolan is currently shooting Inception, which is scheduled for release next July 16th. But will the script even be ready to go by then?
Here's the problem with the next Batman - everyone's waiting to find out more about it. A few months ago, a bunch of rumors started floating around about Christopher Nolan not being interested in returning, but those were obviously bullshit. So who really knows if they'll actually start shooting this next year (maybe by the end of year after Inception). If anything, someone like Gary Oldman would know. And the way he answered the question made it sound like a sure statement, as in, he wouldn't say that unless he really felt like it would happen. So there you go, you heard it from Gary Oldman - or wait, you didn't hear it from him!

Is James McTeigue Hiding a Wachowski Superman Secret?
Are we ever going to get to the bottom of these Superman shenanigans? Earlier this year, a rumor started circulating that the Wachowski Brothers were interested in directing a new Superman trilogy for Warner Brothers. To make a long story short, that rumor was later debunked. And so was the story about Mark Millar pitching a Superman trilogy (it was also recently discovered that Matthew Vaughn was the director who was helping him pitch that - although it never got too far). SlashFilm talked with Wachowski friend James McTeigue yesterday and when asked about Superman, the answer he gave was very interesting.
I hate to dig up old rumors again, but there's actually a secondary source on this - IESB. When McTeigue was asked about the Superman rumor, he paused for a few seconds before answering with the following:
"You know… I… I would say… I'll keep you guessing, actually. It's good not to dispel every rumor, right?" he told SlashFilm.
Is he hiding something with this answer? Well let's see what Robert over at IESB has to add to this rumor. "There is one thing we know for sure, there is currently a very short list of potential directors to bring Supes back to the big screen," he says. "First are the Wachowski Brothers, yep, Andy and Larry. The other name I am hearing is James McTeigue. Here's where things get fuzzy, because I am also hearing the Wachowski's may come in to produce with James McTeigue as the actual director." So there you go - supposedly this isn't just some rumor after all, now is it? Now I'm even wondering if he really is hiding a Superman secret?
As we all know, Warner Brothers has been trying hard to figure out how to bring back Superman in a big way. We also know that Brandon Routh's contract has lapsed, so he probably won't be back. And that other article hit a few weeks back about DC Comics revamping their development slate. As I said when the rumor hit back in February about the Wachowski's doing Superman, this is an awesome idea. Not only are they fans of the character, but what they could bring to a new Supes movie would be amazing. Who knows if it's a big rumor that's just blowing up even more or if there is some truth to it. Hopefully we'll find out soon!

Warner Bros Goes Plastic - They're Developing a Lego Movie
There's Legoland, there's Lego Rock Band, there's Lego Star Wars. Now, there's Lego: The Movie. Warner Brothers is developing a movie "around Lego and its building blocks" reports Variety today. Newcomer writers Dan and Kevin Hageman have been hired to pen the script for the project that will mix live action and animation, but plot details are being kept under wraps (come on, really?). Dan Lin, who is developing a Tom and Jerry movie and developed Sherlock Holmes and Terminator Salvation, is producing this project for the studio, along with Vertigo. We have entered the era endless movies-based-on-toys, unquestionably.

Legendary Pictures Developing New Godzilla Movie?!
Another day, another remake! But this isn't just a simple remake, oh no, not at all. Godzilla has been in some 28 movies over 55 years, including Roland Emmerich's recent disaster (no pun intended) of a movie from 1998. But even after all that, he's still coming back for more. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Legendary Pictures, the production company responsible for The Dark Knight and Watchmen, is "in early discussions" on another Godzilla movie of sorts. Word is that it will be a reboot, and not a remake or a sequel (which is at least good news I think), but that's all that they know (this is very early).

Rambo regressa menos violento

World of Warcraft Film
"We want to be really faithful to the game. We would have our writer… really craft an original story within that world that feels like a 'World of Warcraft' adventure. Only obviously it's very different ’cause it's expanded and translated into the world of a motion picture."
I think we would try and find touchstones within the game to make it accurate and true and choose one or some of the lands that are portrayed in the game with as much accuracy and authenticity as possible."
