Mariah Carey na corrida aos Óscares

Mariah Carey está a ser apontada como uma das possíveis candidatas para as nomeações para os óscares de 2010 pelo seu desempenho como Mrs. Weiss no drama 'Precious'.

A notícia está a causar algum espanto nos meios cinematográficos, mas há fortes indícios de que a Academia esteja a considerar a hipótese de nomeá-la para o Óscar de Melhor Actriz Secundária, o que, a confirmar-se, seria um feito para a cantora sensação americana, de 40 anos, depois do fracasso da sua primeira experiência no grande ecrã em 2001 com o musical 'Glitter', que lhe valeu críticas particularmente severas.

Com 'Precious' o caso parece ser outro e tanto assim é que Carey começou já a ver o seu trabalho reconhecido, como sucedeu na segunda-feira à noite em Capri, Itália, durante a 14ª edição anual do Festival Internacional de Cinema Capri-Hollywood, onde foi premiada justamente pelo desempenho neste filme.

A obra é dirigida pelo estreante Lee Daniels e conta com uma participação especial do músico Lenny Kravitz.
